Grilles
Among the most important details of automotive design is the grille, where we find an amazing variety of aesthetic statements made by the designers. Think of the broad, toothy frown of a 1949 Buick, or the sexy pucker of a Jaguar XK120, or the aggressive bullet of a 1951 Studebaker. Look even closer, and you’ll discover reflections and other tricks of light in the egg-crate, chrome-slat, or water-fall grille defining the face of a car, particularly of the 1930s into the 1960s.
