For the love of the automobile. That’s why we drive, that’s why we admire, that’s why we convene and converse… for the love of and to celebrate the art and evolution of the automobile.
To put it simply, it is that pure and untainted premise and the passion behind it that drew me to learn of, attend, become a believer in, and ultimately become a judge at the Motorcar Cavalcade Concours d’Elegance. And, well, when you combine and present passion and purpose on a picturesque playing field… you get one hell of a party.
Being a host and a judge over the last 15 years in numerous niche car competitions in cultures and communities from the US to Europe to Asia, I humbly assumed in my first year joining that the fellow judges and the judging wouldn’t, or perhaps couldn’t, be that much different… I proudly state clearly that I was wrong.
Who and what I imagined didn’t hold a candle to what Jason and his team envisioned and assembled! It is the esteemed and incredibly diverse array of artisans and masters of their fields and crafts that make this Concours’ so very special.

Builders, journalists, CEO’s, composers, founders, athletes and musical artists describe just some of the panel of judges that, under the wisdom and tutelage of the docent judges, convene to set out and study and appreciate and award the automobiles arranged on the field in their unique categories.
In other events that I am a judge for, a points-based system dictates the hierarchy, and although utilizing that linear type of metric makes sense in certain settings, the diverse and artful gathering and representation of automotive history and design in attendance each year at Motorcar renders that style of judging archaic.
Even the manner in which the vehicles are designed and arranged on the show field showcases the passion behind the logistics. Categories such as “Doors,” “Glass,” and “Wings” give you a glimpse into the unique way Motorcar classes the vehicles, and the eclectic gathering of judges provides a fresh perspective that allows for the automobiles to be subjectively, objectively, and artistically judged and appreciated.

The process is done with class and grace, and each year I am deeply honored to be a part of this Concours and work with and stand next to my fellow esteemed judges. There are many reasons behind the growth and reputation of Motorcar Cavalcade, but the judges and the judging alone stand as reason enough to participate and attend and experience Motorcar’s unique style, atmosphere, and experience as both an Automotive and a Lifestyle Concours.
The upcoming February, 2025, event will be my third consecutive year attending and judging, and each year it comes as no surprise that the event and the incredible automobiles and people lining up to exhibit and attend continues to grow.
Ambiance, art, automobiles, camaraderie, culture, and fashion is what you will be immersed in. It will be an honor to meet you and appreciate the art and evolution of the automobile, together, at the next Motorcar Cavalcade Concours d’Elegance. Till then.
